November 2020

Hello to all our readers.

I hope our November issue finds you well and safely surviving in this pandemic. I hope we can all find it in ourselves to be kind to each other, not only because of the trying times we are in, but for the sake of humanity. It is especially a must, as the 13th of November is World Kindness Day. It is a shame that we actually have to designate a day to be kind to each other. I am a firm believer in random acts of kindness; a smile or compliment to a stranger could be the kindest thing the receiver has heard or experienced all day, or even year.

World Kindness Day

In light of kindness and love, I have to bring up the SARS situation in Nigeria; when an armed force created to protect and serve a people now harasses the same people, that’s a sign of not only lack of accountability, but too much power. This unit was put together to combat armed robbery and other serious crimes, yet Nigerians fear them more than the crimes they are supposed to combat.

End Sars Protests – Nigeria

It’s baffling why the Nigerian government has announced for the fourth time that they are disbanding the unit. What is so difficult here, I am afraid this is another one of those corrupt manners within many African governments. But why the hostility and aggression towards your fellow man?

This month we also have International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, which as the name suggests, is aimed at ending gender-based violence (GBV). The lockdown orders saw GBV statics soar in African countries like South Africa. Let’s fight this ugly behaviour that is ruining families, lives and the women affected.

Hope you enjoy what we have for you this month…
